Brewing Guide

At Ember, brewing coffee isn’t just about ratios and recipes, it’s about slowing down, paying attention, and enjoying the quiet ritual of making something with care.
Each method brings out a different side of the bean, and there’s no right or wrong way, just the one that feels right for you.

Pour Over

Grind Medium | Coffee 17g | Water 300g | Brew time 2:30-3 min

Pour over is for those who love clarity and calm. Start by placing a filter in your dripper and rinsing it with hot water. Add 17g of coffee and bloom with 40g of water, poured gently in circles. After 30 seconds, add 75g more, letting the coffee open up. By the 1:15 mark, pour the rest up to 300g.

Take your time, keep the water flowing gently, and let the coffee reveal its layers.

Clever Dripper

Grind Medium | Coffee 18g | Water 300g | Brew time 2 min

Rinse the paper filter, then add 300g of water and 18g of coffee. Stir gently so every grain is touched, then let it sit for 2 minutes. Release into a warm cup or server and enjoy the soft, rounded profile this method creates. Simple and reliable.

Aeropress

Grind Fine-Medium | Coffee 15-18g | Water 250-300g | Brew time 3 min

The AeroPress is travel-friendly, versatile, and playful. Place the filter, add your coffee, then pour in water. Cap with the plunger right away to stop dripping. After 2:30 minutes, press slowly and evenly for 30 seconds. It’s a method that gives you a cup that’s bold yet smooth.

Espresso Machine

Grind Fine | Coffee 17-18g | Water 36-40g | Brew time 25-30 sec

Espresso is intensity in a small cup. Fill your basket with 17–18g of ground coffee, level with your finger, then tamp firmly. Lock in the portafilter and brew right away, aiming for 36-40g in 25-30 seconds. Adjust your grind to guide the flavour: finer for more sweetness, coarser to soften bitterness. A small adjustment changes everything.

Stove Top (Moka Pot)

Grind Medium | Coffee 17g | Water 300g | Brew time 2:30-3 min

The moka pot is comfort and nostalgia in one. Fill the basket with ground coffee, no tamping needed. Pour hot water into the bottom chamber, just below the valve, and seal. Place on medium heat and remove before the brew finishes, then cool the base quickly to stop extraction. It’s a kitchen ritual, rich and familiar.

French Press

Grind Medium | Coffee 18g | Water 300g | Brew time 10 min

For those who like coffee with presence. Add 18g of coffee and 300g of water. After 5 minutes, stir to bring the grounds back into motion, then wait another 3 minutes. Place the lid, press gently, and let it settle for 2 minutes before pouring. The result is full-bodied and grounding, a coffee that feels like a pause you can hold in your hands.
